As President of the North Carolina Senior Living Association, Ed Weeks is a third-generation leader in senior care, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. His family’s legacy has branched into multiple industry roles across generations. Ed advocates for residents, staff, owners, and operators, from North Carolina and South Carolina to the New York City market. With decades of leadership, he supports the entire ecosystem—including vendors from pharmacies to paper products. Ed’s vision is to energize future leaders, broaden support at all levels, and ensure a financially strong association built on enduring family values.

Beverly Dix McHugh
 Vice -President
Springview Facilities

Beverly Dix McHugh, current Vice President from Burlington, NC, has been a long-standing member of the association She has served on the Auxiliary board, Hospitality committee and other sub committees as well as serving as a past AIT preceptor. She is currently chair for the Education Committee and the ACHC Accreditation subcommittee. 

Beverly has supported senior adults in Alamance County as an adult care home administrator since the licensing of her first facility in 1991.  Springview Assisted Living is now a community of seven facilities, two of which specialize in memory care.

Friends and Residents in Long Term Care presented Springview Assisted Living with the Best Practice Award for 2021. Beverly’s passion is to deliver leadership, not only to her organization, but to the whole senior living community, working to provide care that goes beyond standards and best practices.

She continues to be an advocate for education for residents, staff, families and anyone supporting North Carolina’s senior population.

She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, traveling and anything NC State!




Susan Morris
Secretary
Bethamy Enterprises
Susan Morris, current NCSLA Secretary, has been a long-time member of the organization since 1977 in District 2 from Spencer-Mocksville, NC. Susan has served as a key leader in many admirable positions on the NCSLA Executive Board and several committees (Board of Continuing Education, Convention, Hospitality, Planning & Steering, Joint State Training), Domiciliary Care Administrator Preceptor since 1987 and District 2 Vice President from 1985-1997. She also has held a seat on the Board of Directors for the National Assisted Living Risk Retention Group since 2010.

Morris established Morris Investment Properties while serving as a licensed administrator since 1974 and is the owner of Bethamy Enterprises (Bethamy Retirement Center, Bethamy Retreat and Magnolia Place). She has experience in pharmacology & gero-psychiatry, as an Activity Director, Serve Safe, Reiki Master II, Natural Health Professional and a certified EMT. Susan received her formal education from Biscayne Southern College, Rowan Technical College and NC State.

Additionally, Morris upon her many successful openings of assisted living facilities admirably established SidMor Fabrication Company, purchased Chicken & Oyster Shack Restaurant and founded NC Museum of Toys, Dolls & Miniatures. Susan is the recipient of many distinguished awards such as multiple Membership Awards, District 2 Advertising Award, Peer Review Award, Associate Membership Award and President’s Appreciation Award. During her free time, Susan is an avid golfer and is an activity member of many service clubs and church member in her community.



Carlos Garcia

Carlos Garcia, current NCSLA Treasurer, has been a long-time member of the organization and is from Summerfield, NC.   

He has overseen vendor portion of the Annual Fall Convention and Trade Show for the association for years.  Garcia's experience and passion for the industry brings incredible enthusiasm and energy to everything around him.   His leadership qualities have been respected and appreciated throughout his long service to the association.

Dean Wilson, Past President, has been a long-time member of the organization and is from Randleman, NC.  He is a third-generation assisted living facility owner and operator.

Dean served as president of the association from 2015 - 2025 and has worked with the leadership team to advocate for the association while helping the organization expand its membership and education opportunities throughout the state.

Stacy Massey
Chief Executive Officer

Stacy Massey serves as Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Senior Living Association (NCSLA), a role she began in 2026. She has thirty years of leadership experience in assisted living and long-term care. A second-generation Family Care Home provider, Stacy has dedicated her career to advancing quality care, professional education, and strong advocacy within the senior living industry. She has a strong passion for assisting providers in maintaining compliance while delivering high-quality, person-centered care to North Carolina’s aging population.

Stacy joined NCSLA in December 2023 as Director of Education and was responsible for the coordination of all continuing education programs and the NCSLA Administrator In Training Program. As CEO, her vision is to advance the knowledge of the profession to engage and educate policymakers, regulators, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders who influence oversight, enforcement, and policy development. Stacy is passionate about ensuring these partners are informed, supported, and encouraged to work collaboratively with providers to strengthen assisted living operations and preserve quality of life for residents.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services with a concentration in Psychology and is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator as well as a Certified Adult Care Home Administrator. Stacy has owned and operated Family Care Homes and is the founder of SMassey Consulting, a consulting agency specializing in Adult Care Homes and Family Care Homes.

Stacy began her career in the Adult Care Home industry in 2002 as an Executive Director, opening an 80-bed Adult Care Home. She later played a key role in branding and developing a chain of 16 communities across North Carolina, serving as Vice President of Residential Communities. This experience provided her with a comprehensive understanding of operations, regulatory compliance, leadership development, and system-wide strategy.

In 2018, Stacy transitioned into consulting as Director of Operations for Sandy Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care. In addition to consulting as a Director of Operations, her consultant business provides a wide range of Adult Care Home consultative services to long term care attorneys, and family care home and assisted living providers. Her expertise includes, oversight of adult care home operations, policy and procedure development, Change of Ownership support, Quality Assurance training and audits, Regulatory training and Statement of Deficiency response. Stacy has actively served NCSLA in numerous leadership and advisory roles, including Board Member, Education Committee member, Administrator in Training Instructor, Representative on the NC Rules Review Committee, and participant in the NC Adult Care Home Accreditation Pilot Program.

Cheryl Wilson

Cheryl Wilson has been with the association for over 25 years! She knows the office from top to bottom and has seen many changes over the years. Cheryl handles office operations and also assists with event registrations, membership enrollment and renewals and has a wealth of knowledge in serving NCSLA's members.

Holley Koontz
Director of Education
 


Holley Koontz is a third-generation administrator following the legacy of her mother and grandmother. Holley’s love for serving the aging population started from an early age as she went to work with her mother. Some of her fondest memories are playing ping pong and BINGO with former residents. 

Holley started her career as an administrator after graduating from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) with a B.S in Public Health Community Health Education. Then, she continued her education at UNCW receiving her Masters in Healthcare Administration. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist who sees education was a pathway for the future. She is excited to teach and mentor the next generation of administrators. 

Holley currently serves as an Administrator at Grayson Creek Assisted Living and Olin Village along side her mother, aunt, and grandmother. In her free time, Holley enjoys going to the beach, spending time with her family, and reading.
